2 Easy Ways to Restore Organic Coconut Sugar’s Quality

Unlike refined sugar, coconut sugar can sometimes form clumps if it’s exposed to moisture. Don’t worry! this doesn’t mean it has gone bad. With the right storage and a few simple tricks, you can easily restore its texture and keep it fresh.

How to Store Organic Coconut Sugar Properly

To prevent clumping and preserve its flavor, store coconut sugar in an airtight container and place it in a cool, dark space such as your pantry. This protects it from moisture, heat, and bugs.

What to Do If Coconut Sugar Clumps

Even with the best storage, coconut sugar can sometimes form hard clumps. Luckily, you can restore it easily with these methods:

Break Up the Sugar

Place the hardened sugar inside a sealed bag and gently crush it with a rolling pin. For finer results, you can also run the sugar through a food processor or coffee grinder to return it to crystal form.

Soften the Sugar

If the sugar is too hard to crush, place it in a microwave-safe bowl. Lightly sprinkle a few drops of water over the top, then cover and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Once softened, use a fork to break up the clumps.

Final Thoughts

Proper storage is the key to keeping your organic coconut sugar fresh and ready to use. By using an airtight container and keeping it away from moisture, you can prevent clumping altogether. And if clumps do form, simply break or soften them using the methods above.
